About

The EpicDuel Wiki (also called ED Wiki or EDW) is a web-based encyclopedia for Artix Entertainment's PVP MMO, EpicDuel. We strive to bring you complete information on EpicDuel content and the articles present on the wiki help us do that. The wiki is regularly patrolled by our team of administrators who maintain the accuracy and quality of the content hosted.

History

The EpicDuel Wiki was founded on December 18^th, 2009 by Al Gilman, creator of popular Artix Entertainment wikis. Originally an unofficial wiki, the EpicDuel Wiki was later recognized officially and replaced the EpicDuel Forum Encyclopedia around September of 2010.

Two years after its original opening, the EpicDuel Wiki obtained its 2,000^th content page on April 13^th, 2012.

Social Networks

The official Twitter account for the EpicDuel Wiki (@EpicDuelWiki) was announced on December 26^th, 2010 and the official YouTube channel (EpicDuelWiki) on January 15^th, 2011. There are no additional official social networking accounts for the wiki.

Our 1,160 users have created 6,939 pages, including 2,066 content pages and cumulating a total of 38,463 edits. Our team of 7 staff members help maintain the wiki while our 61 active users help contribute content.

Design and Content

The main page of the EpicDuel Wiki underwent a major visual redesign that was released September 3^rd, 2010. Announcements replaced the "Game Information" section and were added April 2^nd, 2011.

The armor spreadsheet was introduced July 21^st, 2010 as a convenient way to compare and locate any armor in-game. Following its success, the weapon spreadsheet was released a week later on July 28^th, 2010. On April 5^th, 2012, the weapon spreadsheet was split into the primary weapon spreadsheet and the ranged weapon spreadsheet due to its immense size.

Image Directories were first introduced for achievements December 25^th, 2010 as an alternative method of locating an achievement. They were later extended to armors, robots, items and vehicles in January and March of 2011.

Editing

The primary help page for the EpicDuel Wiki was added December 18^th, 2009, with a picture guide added August 27^th, 2010. The first video guide on uploading images was added June 8^th, 2011. The Getting Started guide was added September 3^rd, 2010, the Editing Help page on September 29^th, 2010, and the FAQ page on April 16^th, 2011.

The alternative method of editing with forms were officially released March 9^th, 2012 although the project has been in development since late 2011.

Other Projects

On January 8^th, 2011, site owner Al Gilman launched the Lore Forum as the wiki's discussion hub. Due to activity lowering, the Lore Forum closed all but one section on March 12^th, 2012.

For easier access to all Artix Entertainment Design Notes on a single website, the Everything Lore blog was launched January 21^st, 2012.
